Care Guide of Mirrors

Handling

Our mirrors vary in weight but can be 20 kg +, ensure if you are moving or relocating the mirror it is handled with care, it may be better to hire a professional to do it for you.

Please ensure two people handle the 2100x1400 mm arch mirror at all times due to size and weight.

Cleaning & Care: Glass

To keep your mirror fresh and clean wipe with a damp cloth and dry with a lint-free cloth.

On rare occasions residue from the glass cutting machine may be present in small circles on your mirror, these can be removed with 0000 grade Steel Wool (must be 0000 grade). This product is also excellent for cleaning your mirror and will not harm or scratch the glass but remove dust or particles stuck to it. Combine with a glass cleaner for best results.

Cleaning & Care: Aluminium Frames:

Do not spray any liquids directly onto the mirror surface or frame.

Do not use any liquid cleaners that contain corrosive chemicals.

Rattan:

Dust regularly with a dry soft cloth, a soft brush, or vacuuming the piece with the brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner. Use a soft bristled toothbrush for those hard to reach places. Periodically wipe down with a soft damp cloth. Natural Rattan and imperfections:

Rattan products are handmade and the nature of rattan being a natural wood product means that no two pieces or sides of the same piece are exactly alike.

Inconsistencies and imperfections should be expected and appreciated. They are inherent in a non-automated production process and do not affect the quality or value of the item.

Colour variations, markings, grains and dents natural to a rattan product are not considered flaws or defects and indicate authenticity and quality and indicates the use of natural rattan that has not been masked with veneers or synthetic additives. Small nail marks where the rattan is connected will also be present as this is part of the joining process.

To restore dry, cracked, or split rattan, apply boiled linseed oil with a soft cloth or soft bristled brush. When the furniture won't absorb any more oil, wipe it clean with a soft cloth. Allow it to dry or harden before using again.

High moisture / wet areas

Aluminium Frame Mirrors:

Bathroom size aluminium mirrors with no backing are appropriate for high moisture / west areas.

Mirrors 1800x800mm or above in size not warranted for use in high humidity areas due to backing of mirror not being suitable for wet areas.

Rattan Mirrors:

Rattan furniture should be stored in dry conditions as it is an organic material. Prolonged dampness can lead to mold, therefore we do not recommend using rattan furniture outside or in wet areas. If the water is held within the rattan and is exposed to heat and air, it creates an environment that is suitable for mold to grow.

We recommend weatherproofing your rattan furniture if you wish to utilise in a wet area. Vanders Glass will not replace items due to mold if used in wet areas.

Installation:

All mirrors must be hung by a professional. Do not use string or wire to hang mirrors. Mirrors must be hung directly from anchor points attached to the back of the mirrors otherwise this will cause defects to the mirror. Utilise all brackets available when hanging your mirror to evenly distribute weight. Vanders Glass will not be liable for the cost of installation or removal of the mirror and the warranty will be voided if damage occurred during or after installation by someone other than Vanders Glass employees
